About us

We, as the research group of Bioprocess Technology, we have a worldwide reputation in the development of methods for scalable bioprocesses and acceleration of bioprocess development. Thereby we use complex experimental setups, which generate a lot of data. Data need to be converted in knowledge and captured in digital twins. The digital twins are generated in common programming languages and we need help in getting harmonization and alignments across our different project of digital transformation in bioprocess technology. We have an existing Matlab toolbox and sound experience on Python in our research team.

Your tasks

  • Harmonize different versions in our Matlab toolbox in one modular source code
  • Implement good coding practice and spread this to the team
  • Make more complete documentation and annotation of the Matlab toolbox code
  • Maintenance of core Matlab toolbox calculator functions
  • Assist newcomers in getting started with data analysis and modeling
  • Expand functionality to what already exists in Matlab to our Python toolbox
  • Harmonize preprocessing and data analysis functions between Matlab and Python
  • Automate function programming of automated sampling systems in Codesys
  • Establish RestAPI interface between the automation systems and the digital twins

Your profile

  • IT / Programming background as hobby or BSc in IT, electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Matlab and/ or Python object-oriented programing skills
  • Good organizational skills and a reliable work style
  • Experience and know-how in any of the areas would be a plus but are not a prerequisite:
    • Working in the bioprocessing field
    • Experience Code Sys and real time interfaces, such as RestAPI or OPC UA
    • Additionally, you should enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary environment

Other (important) things you may want to know

  • Salary: commensurate to education and experience, at least €1,075/month (14x/year) b. tax
  • Start: position is available immediately (applications will be accepted until position is filled)
  • Duration: position is initially fixed for 2 years (with the possibility of extension)
